Fodor's Review

A few steps down Carrer Tallers from the top of La Rambla, on a short side street, the Mesón Castilla is a rarity in Barcelona: there's almost nothing Barcelona about it. It's what a well-appointed country hotel or a parador in Castile or La Mancha would look and feel like: classically Spanish, with mosaic tile floors and sconces, coffered ceilings and coats of arms, rooms with antique carved headboards and painted wooden armoires. The hotel is spotlessly kept, and charming. The patio off the breakfast room, lush with bougainvillea and hibiscus, is a treat to fetch your buffet tray to, in good weather.
