In the heart of the more fashionable Esquerra (west or "left" side) of the Eixample, this recently expanded and renovated hotel caters primarily (but by no means exclusively) to gay travelers in an area dubbed by locals as "Gayxample." The spacious rooms are soundproof and well-lit, with comfortable contemporary furniture and decors in white-on-white punctuated by hints of black, red, and chrome; most have queen-size beds. Suites are truly spacious, but have only
a glass wall separating the bedroom from the bath: privacy sacrificed to romance. The hotel's Bench restaurant is up to par, and the rooftop deck and pool (with pool, bar, and little waterfall features: open Apr.-Oct.)) has good views over the city.

Extremely disappointed with this hotel especially since the Axel in Berlin is so good. This hotel has scratchy old towels, unfriendly service, and they charge extra for everything (there is no free water in the hallways - not sure why that is posted here). Hot tub is never hot and the drink at the 'skybar' are much more expensive that the drinks at W (and W has a real view!)
