Casa Camper Barcelona

Carrer Elisabets 11, Barcelona, Catalonia, 08001, Spain

A marriage between the Camper footwear empire and the Vinçon design store produced this brainchild, a 21st-century hotel halfway between La Rambla and the MACBA (Museum of Contemporary Art). The Casa Camper is really into green sustainability (think solar panels and water recycling); it's a mind-set that leads to lots of fun perks and one-big-family details you don't see elsewhere. There's a free 24-hour snack in the lobby, for example, and an honesty bar on the rooftop terrace. No way to put a pool on the terrace, but there's a tropical rain machine in its place. Rooms require a tolerance for splashy red accents; those on the garden side of the hotel all have separate sitting rooms across the corridor, with hammocks and sofa beds, that open with the same key: a boon to families. There's a swell cocktail bar downstairs, with British club-style deep leather armchairs and two billiard tables. The Dos Palillos restaurant next door serves some of Barcelona's finest Asian-fusion cuisine.
