Soccer in Barcelona

If you're in Barcelona between September and June, go see the celebrated FC Barcelona play soccer (preferably against Real Madrid, if you can score a ticket) at Barcelona's gigantic stadium, Camp Nou (Carrer Arístides Maillol, Les Corts. 93/496-3608. www.fcbarcelona.com. Museum EUR 6, combined ticket including tour of museum, field, and sports complex EUR 10. Museum Mon.-Sat. 10-6:30, Sun. 10-2. Collblanc, Palau Reial). Games are played Saturday night at 9 or Sunday afternoon at 5, though there may be international Champion's League games on Tuesday or Wednesday evening as well. Ask your hotel concierge how to get tickets, or call the club in advance. The stadium seats 98,000 and fills to capacity for big games. If FC Barcelona is touring, rival team Espanyol may be playing in the Olympic Stadium on Montjuïc; ticket prices are usually less expensive and ticket availability tends to be a bit easier. A worthwhile alternative to seeing a game is the guided tour of the FC Barcelona museum and facilities. The museum has a five-screen video showing the club's most memorable goals, along with player biographies and displays chronicling the history of one of Europe's most colorful soccer clubs.
