El Caballo Rojo

El Caballo Rojo Review

This is one of the most famous traditional restaurants in Andalusia, frequented by royalty and society folk. The interior resembles a cool, leafy Andalusian patio, and the dining room is furnished with stained glass, dark wood, and gleaming marble; the upstairs terrace overlooks the Mezquita. The menu mixes traditional specialties, such as rabo de toro (oxtail stew) and salmorejo (a thick version of gazpacho), with dishes inspired by Córdoba's Moorish and Jewish heritage, such as alboronia (a cold salad of stewed vegetables flavored with honey, saffron, and aniseed), cordero a la miel (lamb roasted with honey), and rape mozárabe (grilled monkfish with Moorish spices).
