Adjoining the Casa de Pilatos, and once connected to it via underground tunnel, this 16th-century palace is the former residence of the Marquis of Tarifa. Public areas surround four plant-filled patios. The 24 suites are approached by a stairway adorned with trompe l'oeil tiles. Each suite is different—one has a private courtyard with a trickling fountain—but all have kitchenettes. There's a roof terrace with gorgeous views. Pros: Elegant and historic, quirky and exciting. Cons: Rooms on patios are noisy, bathrooms small.
