This luxury hotel is in a rambling 10th-century country palace near Sanlúcar la Mayor, 15 km (9 mi) outside Seville. Surrounded by olive and orange trees and in a courtyard with towering palms, the building incorporates an 18th-century church. The interior has clay-tile floors and ocher walls. The acclaimed restaurant, La Alquería, serves Spanish and international dishes, creative variations on the recipes of superstar Catalan chef (and hotel owner) Ferrán Adrià. Pros: Nonpareil beauty and taste, polished service. Cons: Too far from Seville, budget unfriendly.
