By the side of the Darro River directly under the imposing shadow of the Alhambra, this 16th-century mansion is called the Water Thief—a name inspired by a poem by Juan Ramón Jiménez (winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1956). The rooms, traditionally decorated, are named after Jiménez's poems and Manuel de Falla's musical compositions. The best rooms are in the tower, while eight of the 15 rooms overlook the Alhambra. Pros: Inspirational poetic and musical theme, esthetically perfect, Alhambra vistas. Cons: No nearby parking, thin walls, small rooms.
