Language in Slovenia

Slovene is the country's chief language. In the east, signs are posted in Slovene and Hungarian; on the Adriatic coast both Slovene and Italian are officially used. English, German, and Italian are spoken in many places. In Slovene the words for street (ulica) and drive (cesta) are abbreviated to ul and c. Nabrezje (abbreviated to nab) means "embankment." The word for square is trg.
