Excellent home-cooked meals and a breathtaking view off the terrace toward the valley and the mountains beyond are your reward for an easy 5-km (3-mi) drive or bike ride from Ribicev Laz to the tiny hamlet of Srednja Vas. If you're really hungry, order the house specialty mavzelj (essentially spiced ground beef and pork, breaded and fried); it comes served with buckwheat dumplings, sauerkraut, and potatoes. You won't need dessert. On Thursday in warm weather there's a pig roast.
