This old-fashioned resort hotel was built under Austrian rule and has been favored by British travelers since the 1920s. Directly on the lake, the main building has balconies and big windows from which to take in dramatic views of the castle and the Julian Alps. The rooms, lounges, and bar are designed to bring guests back to the early 20th century. It's worth the splurge for a lakeside room.
