Fodor's Review

If you're driving south toward Inverness on the A9, consider detouring first to Tain (look for signs to the town) for a visit to its excellent heritage center Tain through Time. The complex consists of a museum, the Collegiate Church, and the Pilgrimage Centre, all inviting you to explore Tain's history as an important pilgrimage site, thanks to the shrine of St. Duthus. In the late 15th century King James IV (1473–1513) was a frequent pilgrim here.
