Smoo Cave

Fodor's Review

This spectacular cavern, hollowed out of the limestone by rushing water, can be reached via a steep cliff path. Also worth exploring are the number of wonderful sandy beaches found as you head east to Tongue, especially the one at Sango Bay. Boat tours around the Kyle of Durness run daily from April through September.

Oohh Smoo!

What a view! The walk down to Smoo Cave prsents alovely view of the cove that leads out to the sea. Watch for the little streams of water on your way to the cave but be sure to go as far as you can into Smoo Cave as it is truly beautiful. It is worth a stop, especially if you are traveling from Thurso to Skye.
