Fodor's Review

Beside Loch Assynt stand the ruins of Ardvreck Castle, a Clan MacLeod stronghold, built in the 15th century and finally seized in 1672 after a sege by the Mackenzies.

the castle of mystery was a castle of plenty for me

My husband and I stayed in Lochinver 6 years ago and went there to get married, we walked around for a week and then stumbled across Ardvreck castle, and knew straight away this was it, where we were going to get married. After asking permission from the local council we were the first people to get married there and it was the most magical moment ever, I wouldn't have changed a thing!!!
