Trotternish Peninsula

As A855, the main road, goes north from Portree, cliffs rise to the left. They're actually the edge of an ancient lava flow, set back from the road and running for miles. Fossilized dinosaur bones have been uncovered at the base of these cliffs. Don't forget to look up: you might spot a sea eagle, identifiable by the flash of its white tail.
