Built on a small peninsula dotted by a quiet lighthouse, this hotel has an unforgettable location. The Isle Ornsay Hotel (as it's sometimes known) has an enchanting collection of wood paneling, chintz fabrics, and country-style antiques. The mix-and-match furniture in the rooms has genuine charm, while the newer pine bathrooms are less successful. The menu in the restaurant changes daily, and the bar serves inexpensive fare to locals and travelers. There's an art gallery and whisky shop on the premises (and a dram to welcome you to your room).

In a picturesque, though somewhat out of the way spot for touring, this inn has lovely views of the harbor area, and attractively furnished rooms, but was a little lacking in appointments (no useable shower in the room, no heat at night).
