Fodor's Review

A genuine late-15th-century castle, once sheltering the bishops of Caithness, this hotel blends the quite old and the more modern. The lounge is a relaxing room of soft green and cream, and comfortable bedrooms wear pastel stripes and floral fabrics. There's a friendly staff and satisfying, well-cooked Scottish food in the restaurant. Try the loin of venison with dauphinoise potatoes.
