Falkirk

Falkirk has a fascinating history. It was here, at the impressive Antonine Wall, that the Roman occupiers fought back the warlike Picts. You can visit parts of the wall and imagine the fierce battles over this strategic location.

In the late 18th century Falkirk was an important industrial town because of its network of canals linking Glasgow and Edinburgh. But with the arrival

of the railways, Falkirk's fortunes flagged. The canals have been brought back to life with the £78 million Millennium Link Project, which added a range of cycling and walking routes and the spectacular Falkirk Wheel, a boat lift.
