Grave of Rob Roy MacGregor

Grave of Rob Roy MacGregor Review

The area around Balquhidder Glen is known as the Braes (Slopes) of Balquhidder and was the home of the MacLarens and the MacGregors. The grave of Rob Roy MacGregor, the 18th-century Scottish outlaw hero and subject of Sir Walter Scott's novel Rob Roy, is signposted beside Balquhidder village. The site of his house, now a private farm, is beyond the parking lot at the end of the road up the glen. The glen has no through road, though there is a right-of-way (on foot) from the churchyard where Rob Roy is buried, through Kirkton Glen and on to open grasslands and a lake.
