Fodor's Review

With its muted colors and simple but elegant rooms, this restful hotel emphasizes peace and quiet. Owner Ian Fleming says that its New England style is a response to the silent hills that ring the hotel and the tranquillity of the nearby lake. The restaurant is so close to the lake that it feels as if you could reach out and touch the water. Lunch and dinner menus feature beautifully prepared locally sourced food. Fishing and hunting trips can be arranged. In the tiny hamlet of Port of Menteith, this is a year-round hotel; in winter, you'll find warm fires in the bar.
