Fodor's Review

The site of a famous battle in 1645 in which the Scottish Covenanters drove off the pro-English armies under the Earl of Montrose, the Philiphaugh Salmon Centre is now devoted to more peaceful pursuits. Its salmon-viewing platforms allow you to follow the life cycle of the salmon. There are also country walks and cycling routes to follow, and the Waterwheel Tea Room is open all year.
