A 15-minute walk upstream along the banks of the Tweed, Neidpath Castle perches artistically above a bend in the river. It comes into view as you approach through the tall trees. The castle is a medieval structure remodeled in the 17th century, with dungeons hewn from solid rock. You can return on the opposite riverbank after crossing an old, finely skewed railroad viaduct. Call ahead to arranged visits to the interior.
