Fodor's Expert Review Edenwater House

Off B6461, Ednam, The Scottish Borders, TD5 7QL, Scotland

Editor's Note: This location is reported to be under new ownership and therefore this review may contain inaccuracies.

Overlooking Edenwater, a trout stream that runs into the River Tweed, this handsome stone house has three guest rooms that are luxuriously furnished in a traditional style with flower-pattern fabrics; they offer fine views of the river and the Cheviot hills. The inn's antiques-filled restaurant serves some of the best food in the Borders (but opens only on Friday and Saturday evenings). Roast saddle of hare with foie gras and fillet of monkfish crusted with basil and coriander in beurre blanc are two dishes you might find on the menu.
