This handsome stone house overlooks Edenwater, a trout stream that runs into the River Tweed. Four well-appointed guest rooms afford superb views of the river and two of the Cheviot hills. The inn's restaurant is filled with antiques and serves what some connoisseurs regard as the best food in the Borders. Roast saddle of hare with foie gras and fillet of monkfish crusted with basil and coriander in beurre blanc are two of the dishes you might find on the menu. It's open to nonguests on weekends, when it offers a £38.50 three-course dinner.
