Fodor's Review:

The popular Armadale Castle Gardens and the Museum of the Isles, including the Clan Donald Centre, tell the story of the Macdonalds and their proud title—the Lords of the Isles—with the help of an excellent audiovisual presentation. In the 15th century the clan was powerful enough to threaten the authority of the Stuart monarchs of Scotland. There are extensive gardens and nature trails, plus a gift shop, restaurant, library, and archive facility. Also on the grounds are high-quality accommodations in seven cottages with kitchen facilities.
