Emergencies

More Travel Tips »

In case of any emergency, dial 999 for an ambulance, the police, the coast guard, or the fire department (no coins are needed for emergency calls from phone booths). Pharmacies are not common away from the larger towns, and doctors often dispense medicines in rural areas. In an emergency, the police will assist you in locating a pharmacist. In Fort William, Boots the Chemist is open weekdays from 8:45 to 6, Saturday from 8:45 to 5:30. In Inverness, Kinmylies Pharmacy is open weekdays until 6 and Saturday until 5:30. The pharmacy at the Scottish Co-Op superstore is open Monday through Wednesday, from 9 to 8, Thursday and Friday from 9 to 9, Saturday from 9 to 6, and Sunday from 10 to 6.
