Fodor's Review

The railway bridge supporting the tracks going into the station is known as the Highlandman's Umbrella because it was the traditional gathering place for immigrant Highlanders looking for work in Glasgow in the early 20th century. There are several interesting shops in the station, which serves as the departure point for trains to England and the Ayrshire coast, including Prestwick Airport. The Champagne Bar in the Central Hotel is a good vantage point for watching the

station concourse and its comings and goings.
