Set high above the road, the Sherbrooke is one the grand homes built by the newly prosperous industrialists of the 19th century. The guest rooms are quirky, and most are very spacious. Some rooms are in what were the stables; some are larger and slightly more expensive. The spacious gardens seem very far away from the bustle of downtown, yet the hotel is only a 10-minute drive from the city center. The restaurant offers traditional cooking with fresh ingredients. Locals flock to the busy bar.
