This arts, film, and performance venue is housed in a modern building constructed around the facade of the older center. The Cafe Saramago sits between old and new, under a glass roof that feels a little like an open courtyard. It has a very good lunch and pretheater two-course menu. The center hosts a range of activities, including cutting-edge art exhibitions, film screenings, and educational activities for community groups. There's a small theater on the first floor and a small bookshop specializing in art books.
