Queen's Cross Church

Queen's Cross Church Review

The only church Mackintosh designed houses the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society Headquarters. It is the ideal place to learn more about the famous Glasgow-born architect and designer. Although one of the leading lights in the art nouveau movement, Mackintosh died in relative obscurity in 1928. The church has beautiful stained-glass windows and a light-enhancing, carved-wood interior. The center's library and shop provide further insight into Glasgow's other Mackintosh-designed buildings, which include Scotland Street School, the Martyrs Public School, and the Glasgow School of Art. The church sits near the junction of Garscube Road and Maryhill Road. A taxi is probably the best way to get here, but you can also take a bus toward Queen's Cross from stops along Hope Street or walk up Maryhill Road from the St. George's Cross subway station.
