Fodor's Review

A genuinely cosmopolitan menu that changes regularly, a wine list that is long but economical, and reasonably priced cocktails, all served in a warm and inviting interior buzzing with conversation, explain Stravaigin's continuing popularity. Wooden tables, booths, and assorted chairs in the bar create an informal atmosphere. Stravaigin takes pride in its well-traveled menu, with regular nights featuring less-familiar cuisines. Look for fine fish dishes like hake and mussels in a lemongrass broth. There's always a curry plate on the menu, as well as reliable Scottish favorites like haggis and neeps and beer-battered fish-and-chips. For dessert, the kitchen makes its own ice cream. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, the downstairs restaurant serves the same menu.
