Home to Scotland's national orchestra, and opera and dance companies, Glasgow is truly the artistic hub of the country. As for nightlife, Glasgow's mix of university students, artists, and professionals maintains a spirited pub-and-club scene.

Glasgow's pubs were once known for serious drinkers who demanded few comforts. Times have changed, and many pubs have been turned into smart wine bars. Most pubs are open daily from 11 AM to 11 PM.

As elsewhere in Britain, electronic music—from house to techno to drum and bass—is par for the course in Glasgow's dance clubs. Much of the scene revolves around Center City.
