Cathedral House Hotel

28–32 Cathedral Sq., Glasgow, Glasgow City, G4 0XA, Scotland

Adjacent to Glasgow Cathedral, this Scottish Baronial–style building dating back to 1867 once served as the church's ecclesiastical headquarters—hence the name. It's suitably grand, with crow-stepped gables and towering turrets. The rooms, accessed by a spiraling stone staircase, are of varying size, but all are smartly decorated with dark-wood furnishings. Rooms 4 and 7 have perfect views of the cathedral and Necropolis across the street. The downstairs bar is popular, but far enough from the rooms that the noise won't disturb you. A full Scottish breakfast—or a vegetarian option—is served in the private café.
