Fairmont St Andrews Review

Just 2 mi from St. Andrews, this modern hotel has spectacular views of the bay and superb golf. The rooms eschew swags and frills, opting instead for simple elegance. Look for thoughtful touches like luxurious linens on the beds and heated floors in the ample bathrooms. The restaurants are worth trying: Esperante (££££) offers an inventive menu that draws from the flavors of Tuscany, whereas the more casual Squire (£££) serves Scottish country-style dishes such as rump of lamb with a pea and mint puree. Golfers will find inspiration in the velvety fairways of two cliff-top courses: the Torrance Course, designed by the great Scottish player Sam Torrance, and the Kittock Course.
