"The Caley," a conspicuous block of red sandstone beyond the west end of West Princes Street Gardens, was built between 1898 and 1902 as the flagship hotel of the Caledonian Railway, and its imposing Victorian decor has been faithfully preserved. The public area has marbled green columns and an ornate stairwell with a burnished-metalwork balustrade. Rooms and corridors are exceptionally large and well appointed.

We had a poor expirence at the Caley. We had to have things fixed in the room everyday. Management seemed a bit arrogant towards guests and employees. Be aware one half of the hotel has air conditioning and the other half does not. Room was outdated. Better places to stay in Edinburgh at this price point.
