Although it was built in the late 1980s, this city-center hotel was designed to blend into its surroundings among the 16th-, 17th-, and 18th-century buildings on the Royal Mile. Rooms are spacious and contemporary—practical rather than luxurious.

Although there were a number of small things that didn't work correctly (leaky shower, etc.), the rooms were decent sized, the location was perfect -- in the middle of the Royal Mile, the personnel were very helpful and there was free internet access
