Hotel Missoni Review

Glasgow is regarded as Scotland's most stylish city, but the capital has beaten its rival by becoming the site of Italian fashion house Missoni's first boutique hotel. The daring—and to some tastes garish—delights to be found inside contrast with the Gothic surroundings, but the hotel pulls it off by being simultaneously chic and welcoming. Rooms and suites are decently sized and boldly designed, while the restaurant and the hotel's bar are fast becoming a magnet for the city's bright young things.

New Meets Old
Italian fashion house Missoni made a colorful splash when it debuted its cutting-edge hotel in the historic centre of Scotland's capital in 2009. Yet, the modernist flair of this hotel sits surprisingly easily amidst the surrounding grandeur. Unsurprisingly, the property is a design showcase for Missoni's dramatically colored and boldly patterned textiles. Those accents, along with comfortable, yet imaginative rooms make this hotel a "must-visit." Extra points must be awarded for the fine Italian restaurant, the magnificent views of the Old Town from many rooms, and the convivial, generous service of the mostly Scottish staff.
