Along the shoreline at Leith is a gastropub with a pleasant atmosphere and quality food that continues to win plaudits. At lunchtime, the dark-wood bar does a roaring trade in simple fare such as gourmet burgers and fish cakes, but in the evening the kitchen ups the ante with such dishes as sea trout stuffed with smoked mackerel risotto. Old stone walls attest to the building's 15th-century origins. Book early to sample the legendary breakfast.
