The Scotsman Review

A magnificent turn-of-the-20th-century building, with a marble staircase and a fascinating history—it was once the headquarters of the Scotsman newspaper—now houses this modern, luxurious hotel. Dark wood, earthy colors, tweeds, and contemporary furnishings decorate the rooms and public spaces. North Bridge, the casual-chic brasserie, serves shellfish and grill food. For peace and quiet, ask for an upper-story room with a view.

    The Scotsman Review

Stylish hotel in the midst of the nightlife action in Edinburgh. Each room is differently laid out but similarly furnished (I saw four of them). Excellent views from most rooms. Good restaurant, passable bar. I might stay there again.

    Pros:

Location. Attentiveness of front desk. Restaurant. Room furnishings. Views from some rooms.

    Cons:

Parking is way off site. No air conditioning. Knowledge of area restaurants and attractions by staff is incredibly poor. Poor bar service when busy.
