George IV Bridge Review

It's not immediately obvious that this is in fact a bridge, as buildings are closely packed most of the way along both sides. At the corner of the bridge stands one of the most photographed sculptures in Scotland, Greyfriars Bobby. This statue pays tribute to the legendary Skye terrier who kept vigil beside his master John Gray's grave in the Greyfriar's churchyard for 14 years after Gray died in 1858. The 1961 Walt Disney film Greyfriars Bobby tells a version of the heartrending tale that some claim to be a shaggy-dog story.
