When to Go
Late spring to early autumn is the best time to visit the Great Glen. If you catch good weather in summer, the days can be glorious. Summer is also when you might encounter midges (biting insects: keep walking, as they can't move very fast). Winter can bring a damp chill, gusty winds, and snow-blocked roads, although many Scots value the open fires and the warming whisky that make the off-season so appealing.
