Run by siblings Scott and Iona Sutherland, Loch Ness Lodge is an exquisite place: opulent, classy, and welcoming. The owners keep the formalities to a minimum while making you feel pampered with nice touches like the small decanter of sherry that awaits you upon arrival. Rooms are spacious, and all but one have views of Loch Ness. The decor makes good use of dusky and deep colors, realized in crushed velvets and raw silks. They've even created sublime lighting in the large bathrooms. Indulge in afternoon tea daily between 3 and 5—it's included in the price. There's also a small spa with a hot tub and sauna.
