Fodor's Review

Barely 7 miles long, this sheltered island between Kintyre and Islay has sandy beaches and rich wildlife. The island was long favored by British aristocrats as a summer destination. Ferries make the 20-minute trip from Tayinloan on the mainland. The Archamore Gardens are a high point of a visit.
