Lochranza Castle

Lochranza Castle Review

Set on a low sand spit on the mud flats of the bay, this ruined castle is quite picturesque, and you'll often see deer grazing nearby, and sometimes seals in the bay.The castle's ground-floor rooms and some upstairs can be visited during the summer months. This is said to have been the landing place of Robert the Bruce when he returned from Rathlin Island in 1307 to start the campaign that won Scotland's independence. A sign indicates where you can pick up the key to get in.
