Machrie Moor Stone Circles

Machrie Moor Stone Circles Review

From Machrie, a well-surfaced track takes you to a grassy moor by a ruined farm, where you can see the Machrie Moor Stone Circles: small, rounded granite-boulder circles and much taller, eerie red-sandstone monoliths. Out on the bare moor, the lost and lonely stones are very evocative, well worth a walk to see if you like the feeling of solitude. The stones are about 1 mi outside of Machrie; just follow the "Historic Scotland" sign pointing the way.
