Lamlash
With views offshore to Holy Island, which is now a Buddhist retreat, Lamlash has a breezy seaside-holiday atmosphere. To reach the highest point accessible by car, go through the village and turn right beside the bridge onto Ross Road, which climbs steeply from a thickly planted valley, Glen Scorrodale, and yields fine views of Lamlash Bay. From Lamlash you can explore the southern part of Arran: 4 mi to the southwest, Whiting Bay has a pleasant well-kept waterfront and a range of hotels and guesthouses. If you travel another 6 mi, you'll reach the little community of Lagg, which sits peacefully by the banks of the Kilmory Water.
