The main attraction here is location: this enormous, visibly aging hotel is literally on top of the metro and faces the entrance to the 18th-century Alexander Nevsky Lavra, which is at one end of Nevsky prospekt, but still in the center of town. The lackluster service can make even paying your bill a frustrating experience. Though the rooms are hardly sophisticated, they are neat and clean, as are the public areas with their flowers and greenery. This is a popular option for tour groups.
