Fodor's Review:

Combining the elegance of prerevolutionary St. Petersburg with every modern amenity, this luxurious 1875 hotel has earned the unofficial and uncontested title of the finest accommodation in town. Behind the stunning baroque facade lies an art nouveau interior, complete with stained-glass windows and antique furnishings. Pleasing shades of mauve, cream, and gold decorate the stylish and comfortable rooms. The Russian staff upholds European standards of excellence, and the service shines. And Nevsky prospekt, the Hermitage, and Ploshchad Iskusstv are all within walking distance. If money is no object (breakfast alone costs $38), this is the place to stay.
