This spacious and light-filled hotel is a complete reconstruction of two 19th-century buildings. The main building, facing Nevsky Prospect, was built in 1861 in neoclassic style. Before the October revolution the house belonged to the actors' dynasty of the Samoilovs, who starred on the stages of St. Petersburg for more than 150 years. A museum within the hotel honors the family. Behind the historical facade, huge glass doors reveal the most modern of interiors, full of glass. The central location means no time lost in the city's traffic jams. At the same time, the view of busy Nevsky Prospect may not appeal to romantics. The hotel is also known for its fine restaurant complex, which serves just about any cuisine you might crave. Service is personable and the hotel's prices lower if the hotel is not full.
