Alexander Pushkin Drama Theater (Alexandrinsky Teatr)

Alexander Pushkin Drama Theater (Alexandrinsky Teatr) Review

(Russia's oldest theater, opened in 1756, is also one of its most elegant. Its repertoire is dominated by 19th-century classics (and the productions can be as musty as the costumes). With prominent Moscow director Valery Fokin taking the helm in 2004, the company is enjoying a renaissance. Fokin's interpretations of Dostoyevsky's The Double and Gogol's The Government Inspector are thought-provoking and engaging.
